      <image:title>Services - Therapy for individuals</image:title>
<image:caption>Bluebird Psychology provides psychology talking therapy (EMDR and CBT) for a wide range of anxiety- based difficulties in children and adults. The sort of problems which clients may seek help for include generalised anxiety, panic attacks, fears and phobias, social anxiety, health anxiety, study/work and sport performance anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post- traumatic stress difficulties following an upsetting or traumatic event and anxious grief reactions following loss. Sometimes people have anxiety that overwhelms them and interferes with their life and goals, but does not seem to be about anything specific. Anxiety difficulties can often be experienced alongside neurodevelopmental difficulties, such as autism spectrum conditions (ASC). Dr Joanna Phillips has a long established experience of supporting young people who experience anxiety within the context of autism. If you wish to find out more about the specific therapies please click the links below: EMDR CBT</image:caption>

      <image:title>CBT - The power of thoughts</image:title>
<image:caption>Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a popular psychological talking therapy with research to demonstrate its usefulness, and is recommended by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the treatment of a range of mental health problems. CBT is one way of understanding and managing problems. Cognitive means “thoughts” and behaviour means “what we do”. At the heart of CBT is that how we think about an event or a problem affects how we feel (emotionally and physically) and our behaviour. In CBT the client and the therapist work together to identify and challenge negative thoughts and to change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Mindfulness can sit very well within a CBT approach, where the focus is on enabling the person to pay attention to their thoughts and feelings in the present moment, with an aim of enhancing wellbeing when practised regularly.</image:caption>

      <image:title>EMDR - Healing with EMDR</image:title>
<image:caption>Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful psychological therapy which was originally developed for use with people who had experienced upsetting, distressing and traumatic life events. EMDR is proven to be an effective treatment method for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as recognised by NICE. EMDR uses dual attention stimuli (methods used can include right - left eye tracking, alternating hand taps, audio tones delivered to each ear) to help process or "unblock” upsetting memories, bringing about change and recovery. There is now increasing evidence to show EMDR to be effective in the treatment of a variety of psychological problems including anxiety based difficulties.</image:caption>
